Sky Is The Limit

Considering the applications
Exploring Research & Development:
McLaren's Bay Mica Stone Quarries has come a long way from
it's more humble beginnings. Through our latest research and developing
prototype applications, we have been able to break open the mold the company was
in, launching us into more than a dozen new directions.
OUR PRODUCTS:
We have 3 main colours available consisting of SEA MIST GREEN,
SUNSET RED, and BLACK SATIN. There are a variety of ranges in these colours, as
well some new colours we have found which have not yet been marketed. The
location is a geological phenomenon. From about 40 years experience with
this stone, we have determined that in all the world the SUNSET RED colour is
found only exclusively at our quarry. This makes some of our stone more
rare than gold, platinum, and diamonds combined ... despite this rarity we do
not gouge the market with high prices, and have an almost never ending supply of
product, estimated to be over 40 million tons on the surface. The surface mining
area is roughly a 2 mile long, 400 feet high mountain, about 1/2 mile wide, so
we will likely never need to dig downwards.
The deposit is also estimated to be over 1 mile deep, in which
case this amazing resource will likely never be exhausted.

The natural stone market has never seen what we have dreamt of!
We sent our R&D manager Jeffery Borer, on a mission to explore the possibilities
of what our stone can be used for. What he has discovered has us literally
on our ears. That's right...every time any employee lays their head down
on their pillow at night, another new application, market segment, or product
idea comes to mind. Research and
Development, it's what we are focusing on now for the future of our
business.
The sky is the limit... imagination is the boundary.
One of the recent markets we have been exploring is the monument and funeral
memorial stone segment. Please see below, the first memorial headstone
which we created. Notice how spectacular it looks amongst all the other
grave markers. Keep in mind it is next to impossible to photograph our
stone properly. The fancy surfaces sparkle like a billion diamonds in the sun,
but in photographs you cannot see these wonderful optics.

THE GEOLOGY:
Our quarry is situated within one of the oldest surfaces on
the planet known as the Canadian Shield. The stone was formed over 3 billion years ago by heat, pressure and a variety of trace elements,
and the surface was polished by glaciers over many millennia. The photos of
the lake throughout this website, are taken a mere 300 feet from where we mine. We only surface
mine, never come near the water's edge, and do not destroy the environment, but in fact we embrace it with a
true
love for nature.
The stone varies in colour throughout the quarry in
shades of red, green and black. Some of our stone is a semi-precious
AVENTURINE stone being a mica-quartzite mix. Aventurine is used in jewelry,
and also known as Adventurine, Aventurina, and Adventurina depending on what
part of the world.
To add to the beauty and interest of this rock, it sometimes
comes studded with hematite, tourmaline, or garnet. As well some rare crystals
are commonly found. In many areas the rock is gnarled with quartz or feldspar
layers, giving it a unique and impressive twist. Not only is the rock beautiful
to look at, it is durable as a building and landscape stone. The mica platelets
make it resistant to algae and moss and this aspect makes it especially
attractive for water features and aquarium use.
