Magnetic North Pole vs. North Pole

Really when you put things into perspective:

McLaren's Bay Mica Stone Quarries is not so far north.

In fact, we are VERY close to one of the world's largest airports, and 1 hour away from North Bay, Ontario which is a central transportation hub with many options for transportation world wide.  We currently ship to Europe, South America, Asia, USA, New Zealand, and many other locations.

Magnetic North Pole - Fun Fact!

McLaren's Bay Mica Stone Quarry is only 4 hours drive time to the USA/Canada border, and we are in a major transportation hub called North Bay, Ontario Canada.  We are NOT so far north as you might think. According to North Bay Mayor Vic Fideli, it's just North enough to be perfect.

A magnetic compass does not point toward the true 'North Pole' of the Earth. Rather, it more closely points toward the North Magnetic Pole of the Earth. The North Magnetic Pole is currently located in northern Canada. It wanders in an elliptical path each day, and moves, on the average, more than forty meters northward each day. Evidence indicates that the North Magnetic Pole has wandered over much of the Earth's surface in the 4.5 billion years since the Earth formed. The Earth's magnetic field is created by Earth's partially ionized outer core, which rotates more rapidly than the Earth's surface. Indicated in the above picture is Ellef Ringnes Island, the current location of Earth's North Magnetic Pole.

For easy identification, Canada is shown in topographic colours in the picture above. USA is shown in grey. You will note the red dot near the bottom, this is our approximate location, so you see we are not so far north.

So if the magnetic north pole wandered over much of the earth's surface in the past 4.5 Billion years, then perhaps when our Mica Stone was formed over 3 Billion years ago, perhaps we were the "North Pole" around that time.
